Day 5 and 6 - Niagara Falls and Toronto

Flight 3: YVR-YYZ
  • Airline: Air Canada
  • Flight #: AC108
  • Plane: Boeing 777-300
  • Departure Time: 23/4/09, 7:00
  • Duration: 4.5 hrs
  • Seats: 7D and 7G
It was surely a struggle to get up at 4:30am, but made it to the airport in one piece. Time to say goodbye to grannies.

As described in my last post, we managed to secure J seats for this flight despite being ticketed with Y seats. They have exchanged metals from a 767 to a 777, so there were a few empty seats here and there.

This is their new flat bed J product, but the quality of the service, food and the seat were all below Air NZ's standards.

Breakfast - fruit, cinnamon roll and juice

Maple syrup frittata, sausage and caramelised fruit.

Toilet with a view!

YYZ - Niagara Falls
After waiting luggages for a good 45mins (YYZ must be competing with YVR for the slowest airport award), we went to pick up our hired car.

The car hire agent told me that I've rented a 2-door car, so I tried to upgrade to the next level as a 2-door is way too small for 3ppl + luggages. Needed to fork out an extra $20, but they got us a Chrysler Cruiser. Not bad.

The trip to Niagara took about 1.5hrs. Some highways had tolls, so we'll probably receive a toll bill in a few weeks time.

Embassy Suites Fallsview Hotel Niagara Falls

I have never seen a bed THIS big. I suspect it's about 9-10 feet wide!!! with 8 pillows for 2ppl = 4 each :)

2-person spa bath

Nice view from the room.

Cost = $139++/room, including $40 dinner voucher, buffet breakfast, free falls/attractions shuttle bus, free alcoholic drink. It's very good value!

Dinner - The Keg
Very North American serving size, but nice prime rib.

After-dinner walk by the Falls

It was probably about 2-3C at night, so we only managed a short walk before heading back to the hotel.

The spa and nice bed made it a very comfortable sleep.

Next morning, after a buffet breaky, we headed to the "Maid of the Mist" boat ride... we headed into the centre of the mist. Somehow, I was hyper-ventilating when we got there!

More falls view:

American Fall (left) and the Horseshoe Fall (right)

Dinner in Scarborough - "Chiu Chow Boy" Restaurant
Mrs Chan has been longing for Chiu Chow cuisine for a long time, so here we go.

Minced pork, rice, soup

Marinated combo

Very good stir fried Kai Lan with garlic

Oyster omelette
