Day 4 - Richmond

Not a hectic day - the way a holiday should be!

Lunch - Yum Cha
I have always believed that the Chinese food quality in Richmond is very high, and there has been no disappointments so far.

Deep fried taro pastry

Stuffed glutinous rice and chicken

Steamed rice paper wrapped deep fried doughnut, topped with pork floss

Stir fried vermicelli with chicken

The stir fried vermicelli was HUGGEEEEEE (about 2-3 times the normal size). We had 2 take away boxes full of left overs.

Richmond Centre helped us to digest. As in Sydney, all stores have perennial sales at the moment. Picked up a pair of Levi's 501 for $40 :)

Grandpa

Went to see him one last time for this trip. His memory and health is noticeably better than 2 years ago, thank God for that. It was nice to listen to his old time (and mostly funny) stories.

Dinner - last taste of home cooking for a while
Due to popular demand, I've asked Grandma to re-do the stir fry chicken strips and this time, I have taken videos!

Part 1 - heat wok and then add oil. Cut chicken into small strips, add thin slices of ginger. Add a bit of salt, a bit of sugar (brown or white), a bit of soy sauce, a bit of corn starch. Mix with hand.

Part 2 - in a wok with heated oil, pour the marinated chicken into it. Try to get some colour on both sides, so don't stir it. Once both sides are browned, loosen the clump a little but don't over stir.

Part 3 - You may want to cover the work with a lid for 20-30sec to make sure chicken is cooked, but this is not essential. And viola! Serve with some stir fried (or steamed) chinese veges.

ZZz.... need to wake up at 4:45am tomorrow to catch my YVR-YYZ flight at 7am. Bonne nuit.
